Fresh Elements, Unexpected Forms Build Upon Diverse Lighting Designs for Baker

CHICAGO (October 14, 2004) - At the Fall 2004 International Home Furnishings Market in High Point, N.C., Baker and renowned designer, Thomas Pheasant, unveiled new components to the sophisticated lighting series designed for The Thomas Pheasant Collection.

Imported from Italy, the lighting incorporates fresh elements into the existing lighting repertoire, broadening its universal appeal and versatility. Warm, hand-hammered brass, supple leather, glittering glass tiles, lined shades for diffused lighting, cool alabaster, rich woods and brilliant bronze accents were chosen to create ambiance, infuse character, and balance rooms in unexpected ways.

The sophisticated lighting additions are one-of-a-kind works of art, handcrafted in Old World tradition by Italian artisans. These small, family-owned shops pass age-old techniques from generation to generation to create distinctive pieces, thoughtfully executed with the finest quality materials. All lamps are equipped to accommodate standard size light bulbs, and are Underwriters Laboratories (UL) approved.

Georgian Series

Taking its cue from traditional design, yet edited to reflect a modern sensibility, the Georgian series incorporates glass, hand-hammered brass and Pheasant's signature castle motif in its designs.

This large-scale, dramatic design marries the warmth of brass with crystal clear glass in a simple, graceful form. Hung from a crown of brass, the glass shade houses four lights, its top and base circled in a brass frame decorated in Pheasant's signature castle motif.

PH204 Georgian Sconce
Dimensions: W. 8-1/2 D. 5-1/4 H. 13-1/2
The Georgian Sconce reflects Pheasant's love of traditional, Old World design. The sconce has a hand-hammered brass backplate that captures and reflects the light from a single candle cup set behind a sheer, glass panel.

Bracelet Series

Jewel-like, reflecting the high glamour of 1940s design, the Bracelet Chandelier, Lantern and Sconce sparkle with dramatic presence.

PH200 Bracelet Chandelier

The four-light Bracelet Chandelier sparkles in a glittering patterned mosaic. Suspended by thin curved brass poles, its Ivory chinette shade emanates a soft, diffused light and is surrounded by an intricate crown of small glass tiles creating a tiered effect.

PH201 Bracelet Lantern

This extraordinary hanging lantern has an Ivory chinette shade veiled in an intricate pattern of glass tiles. The shade provides soft, diffused light and houses four lights. The crown and hardware are finished in patinaed brass.

PH202 Bracelet Sconce
Dimensions: H. 11- 1/4 W. 9 D. 4-3/4 Dia. 19
A unique, two-light sconce provides a glittering, yet softly diffused light from its Ivory chinette shade, elegantly sheathed in brilliant glass tiles. A patinaed brass frame finishes the piece.

Alabaster Series

Pheasant chose the pure beauty of alabaster marble to create his sculpted, geometric table lamp designs.

Two half-squares of creamy Italian alabaster are fused together to form its unique, open geometric design. An oversized, rectangular Ivory chinette shade complements the natural color variations of the alabaster base. The shade is opaque lined to cast light downward further highlighting the rich translucence of the alabaster base.

The Stack Table Lamp has a sleek contemporary base created by stacked, brushed antique brass rods. Its circular Ivory brushed cotton shade provides the double-light design with a softly diffused glow that cascades down the base in a play of shadow and light. Offered in Antique Gold or Brushed Silver.

PH209 Stack Desk Lamp

The unique design of the Stack Desk Lamp's rectangular base was crafted by stacking thin, antique brass rods. The rectangular Ivory brushed cotton shade was sized to slightly overlap its broad base and houses two lights illuminating the lamp in a soft, cascading play of shadow and light as it travels down the open air base. Offered in Gold or Brushed Silver

Inspired by 1940s art deco designs, the sleek column of the Leather Column Lamp is tightly wrapped in supple, Italian leather tailored with stitch detail and set with bronze gear accents that catch and reflect light. The Paris Floor Lamp is a study of warm wood and brilliant brass detail. The sleek, tapered octagonal column is carved from mahogany and rests on an octagonal mahogany base. An Ivory chinette shade offers soft, diffused light from its double light design and is secured by a brass ring finial.

Sculptural and statuesque, the classic, two-light design of this impressive brushed antique floor lamp gives it versatile application. Pheasant's signature Greek key motif inspired the unique footed base. Fitted with an circular Ivory chinette shade sized to perfectly balance the architectural form.

Capturing the same rustic beauty of the collection's Dowel Table Lamp and Dowel Floor Mirror, the impressive, 60-inch form of the Dowel Floor Lamp is crafted from solid wood using a segmented dowel technique. The base is stained in deep walnut then dusted with antique powder that settles into the segment separations giving the column an appearance of hundreds of individual wooden dowels. Fitted with an Ivory chinette shade that surrounds two lights, the lamp is finished with hammered brass hardware.
