Lennoxlove Castle East Lothian, Scotland His Grace The Duke of Hamilton and Brandon As the 15th Duke of Hamilton and 12th Duke of Brandon, His Grace has close blood ties to both the English and Scottish thrones, as premier peer of Scotland and Hereditary Keeper of the Palace of Holy Rood House. Lennoxlove Castle, a hauntingly romantic 14th century stronghold, was named for Charles II's favorite, La Belle Stuart, Duchess of Lennox. The castle holds the death mask of Mary Queen of Scots, whose Regent was a Hamilton. For centuries, the Duke's principal home was Britain's largest private house.
