Laura Kirar is the founder and creative director of TRU design, a NY-based multi-disciplinary focusing on residential and commercial interiors and rebranding.
Baker, a premier designer and manufacturer of fine home furnishings unveiled its multi-faceted Laura Kirar Collection at the Spring 2006 International Home Furnishings Market in its Baker showroom in High Point, N.C. The collection by multi-disciplinary designer, Laura Kirar, features an expressive mix of wood and upholstered furniture, lighting, accessories, softgoods and textiles.
Kirar approached her designs for Baker as she approaches any project -- as an artist -- drawing from her professional and personal experiences and inspirations to build a livable collection filled with universal appeal and signature pieces of iconic stature.
After completing her degree in sculpture and interior architecture at the prestigious School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Kirar joined the design studio of Holly Hunt. In the Chicago-based studio, she collaborated on the design of furniture, lighting and rugs that currently remain in the Holly Hunt Collection.
In 1994, as a freelance designer, she joined the NY-based studio of the Polo Ralph Lauren Home Collection, designing tabletop items, including flatware and accessories.
Kirar later worked in high-end residential interiors as furniture designer before founding Tru Partners, Inc. in 1999, which today is a dynamic and multi-faceted enterprise.
Under Kirar's creative direction, TRU Design has completed high-end residential and commercial interiors throughout the east coast. The firm's portfolio includes the kitchen for the Esquire Apartment in the Trump World Tower, the Jenne Maag retail store in NYC and a rebranding project for Starwood Hotels, Westin Spa program.
Kirar successfully connects talented designers, accomplished artists and knowledgeable craftsmen with her design philosophy and innovative objects. As the creative force behind LKDL, Kirar currently holds product licenses with Kallista/Kohler Co., Baker furniture, McGuire furniture, Boyd Lighting, Carnegie Fabrics, David Edwards Company, Dennis Miller Associates, and Tuohy Contract Furniture.
